Ostrow Revisited, 2018

In 2018, Ala's son Chris, his wife Sharon and daughter Katherine joined up with Michelle to visit the hamlet of Ostrow (now in Belarus), where Ala and her family lived and from where they were deported to Siberia in February 1940.  There used to be 9 homes in the hamlet; only one remains which is not original, but fairly similar to the original homes.  The owner was attending his bees, by coincidence, so with the help of our Polish Origins guide, Zbigniew, we were able to have a chat to him.  He kindly called around town asking if anyone remembered anything about the Ferenc's.  Afterwards, we traveled to Male Rohogniza, where Ala went to Church.  The priest kindly fed us icecream, before giving us a tour of the church.
