Matriarch of the Kaczynska family, Francziszka Kaczynska (nee Bucksicka), was living in Ostrow with her daughter Zofia and her family when WWII broke out.



Zofia is Lucyna's older sister. Married to Ignacy Ferenc, and mother to Ryzard, Ala and Bogdan, she was also looking after her mother Franciszka when WWII broke out.

Lucyna Kaczynska, our Babcia (grandmother) was born in Makow Mazowiecki in Poland. She was visiting her sister Zofia and mother Francziszka when WWII broke out and they were deported.



Anna was Lucyna's youngest sister. She was living on the other side of the Vistula River in Warsaw, Praga, when the war broke out.. She attempted to reach the family in Ostrow, but was stopped by the trains and forced to return to Praga to see out the war.
